Olight Baton 4 Pro

The Baton grows up: a full-size 3500mAh 18650, a proper tail switch alongside the side button, and both MCC magnetic and USB-C charging. 1600 lumens with a four-hour high makes it the most practical Baton yet. The proprietary dual-contact cell still annoys enthusiasts, but everyone else will never notice.

Beam profile

Balanced, about 26° wide. A usable hotspot with enough spill to see around it.

What owners report

Olight Baton 4 Pro/5 sources reviewed

The version of the Baton 4 that answers the line's oldest complaint: it adds a USB-C port, hidden under a retractable cover in the tailcap, alongside the magnetic charging. Reviewers call it the best Baton yet. It also gains a tail switch, produces around 1,300 lumens with 170 m of reach, and charges in a little under three hours. Build quality on both it and the Baton Ultra is described as dense, solid and well made.

The main gripe is the side switch. There's noticeable take-up before it activates, the click is muted and soft, and the surrounding bezel means larger fingers can lose the switch — which makes double and triple clicks hit and miss. The cell is still proprietary, though it is at least user-replaceable.

Consistently praised

  • USB-C charging hidden in the tailcap alongside the magnetic contacts
  • Adds a tail switch to the Baton formula
  • 1,300 lumens with 170 m of reach and a more efficient beam
  • Dense, solid build that reviewers rate highly
  • Full charge in a little under three hours

Common complaints

  • The side switch has take-up and a soft, muted click
  • The surrounding bezel makes double and triple clicks unreliable for larger fingers
  • Still a proprietary cell, though it is user-replaceable
  • Costs considerably more than enthusiast lights with better emitters
  • Confusingly sold alongside the Baton 4 and Baton 4 Premium Edition

Questions people ask

Does this one charge over USB-C?
Yes — that's the headline change over the standard Baton 4. There's a USB-C port under a retractable cover in the tailcap, and the magnetic charging still works too.
What's wrong with the switch?
It has take-up before it registers and a soft click, and the bezel around it can swallow a larger fingertip. The result is that multi-click shortcuts don't always land.
Is the battery proprietary?
Yes, but user-replaceable — so when it degrades you buy an Olight cell rather than replacing the light. Better than a sealed design, worse than a standard 18650.
Baton 4 or Baton 4 Pro?
The Pro, if the price difference is reasonable. USB-C and the tail switch are real improvements, and reviewers consider it the best of the line.
