Acebeam/Thrower

Acebeam E10 2.0

715 metres of reach out of an 88mm body — the E10 2.0 is the clearest demonstration in the catalog that throw comes from a small, intense emitter and a good optic rather than from lumens. Its 1,200 lumens is unremarkable; concentrating them into a 6-degree cone is not. Runs a USB-C rechargeable 16340 and takes CR123A in a pinch.

Beam profile

Pencil thrower, about 6.3° wide. A tight, far-reaching column with almost no spill.

What owners report

Acebeam E10 2.0/4 sources reviewed

The clearest demonstration in this catalog that throw comes from optics rather than output: 1,200 lumens — unremarkable — concentrated by a Cree XP-LR and a custom TIR into 127,806 candela and 715 metres of reach, from an 88mm body weighing 106.5 grams. Acebeam describe the TIR as giving a cleaner, more controlled beam with better light transmission than a reflector, and the numbers support it.

The build is AL6061-T6 with a hard-anodised finish, rated IP68 and for 1.5-metre drops. It runs a USB-C rechargeable 16340 and accepts CR123A as a fallback, which is a genuinely useful combination for an emergency light. What you're accepting is a tight beam with very little spill — awkward at arm's length — and short runtime from a 16340 at high output.

Consistently praised

  • 715 m of reach from an 88 mm, 106.5-gram body
  • Custom TIR optic gives a clean, controlled beam with good transmission
  • AL6061-T6 hard-anodised, IP68 rated and drop-tested to 1.5 m
  • USB-C rechargeable 16340 with CR123A compatibility as a fallback
  • Proves the point that throw comes from optics, not lumens

Common complaints

  • Very little spill — awkward for anything at arm's length
  • Short runtime from a 16340 at high output
  • 1,200 lumens is modest if you want area coverage
  • Low CRI, as with any throw-oriented emitter
  • Small cell means high output is a burst

Questions people ask

How does something this small throw 715 m?
By concentrating 1,200 lumens into roughly a 6-degree cone. The Cree XP-LR has a very small emitting surface, which is what a TIR optic can collimate tightly — reach is about the optic and die size, not raw output.
Can it take CR123A?
Yes, as a fallback to the rechargeable 16340. CR123A primaries store for years and work in the cold, which makes this a sensible emergency light as well as an EDC one.
Is it usable up close?
Not comfortably. There's very little spill, so at arm's length you get a bright disc and darkness around it. Pair it with a flood light if it's your only torch.
How long does it run?
Not long at high output — a 16340 is a small cell. That's the trade for a light this size, and why the CR123A compatibility matters.
