A premium handheld thrower that owners rate as the best in its class, and the reasons they give are specific: high sustained output where rivals collapse, and a hotspot that stays usable at closer range rather than being a useless dot. The 2.0's improved circuit is the real upgrade — better regulation over time and more output held. Water resistance is IP68 to five metres, well beyond typical, and the included belt holster matters because large-headed throwers rarely fit aftermarket ones.

Two ergonomic complaints. In the dark the side switch is hard to find, because you can grab a cylindrical body at any angle and end up hunting for the button. And the substantial TIR optic makes the light top-heavy. Some owners also aren't convinced the two switches operating independently is an improvement.

What makes it better than other throwers?: Sustained output. Most throwers post a big candela figure and then step down hard; owners single out the L19 2.0 for holding high output, which is what actually matters when you're scanning for several minutes.
Is it usable close up?: More than most dedicated throwers. The hotspot is tight but not so tight it's useless at conversational distance, which is a genuine advantage in a light this focused.
Why is the switch hard to find?: It's a side switch on a round body, so there's no orientation cue when you pick the light up in the dark. Owners learn to index off the pocket clip or holster.
L19 or L19 2.0?: The 2.0, clearly. The improved driver delivers better sustained output and regulation, which is the whole point of a thrower.
