That flexibility is the point: a button-top cell of either type works, including longer protected ones, so it can be an enthusiast light on 14500 or an emergency light running a AA from a petrol station.
Reviewers single out two things. The moonlight mode is the lowest one reviewer had used on any flashlight — genuinely useful for not destroying your night vision — and the Samsung emitter has good colour rendering at a sunlight-like 5000K. The catch is that the same emitter tends toward green, which is the most-noticed tint fault. Efficiency is good in the medium modes but unimpressive on high, and output isn't perfectly regulated on 14500. The pocket clip could use more ramp.

- AA or 14500 — which should I use?
- 14500 for output, AA for availability. The light is designed for both, which is unusual: many AA lights are destroyed by a 14500's higher voltage. Being able to fall back on a shop-bought AA is the point.
- How low is the moonlight mode?
- Low enough that a reviewer called it the lowest they'd used on any light. It's the sort of level you can read a map by without losing dark adaptation, and it runs essentially forever.
- Is the green tint a dealbreaker?
- It's the most common complaint and it's real, though it varies between samples. At this price most owners accept it; if tint is your priority, a Nichia 519A light is the answer.
- Is Anduril worth it on a light this small?
- Mostly for the ramp floor — being able to set that moonlight level precisely is what you're buying. If you just want on and off, Simple UI hides everything else.
