A rechargeable glowing orb rather than a flashlight, and reviewers describe the Obulb family as genuinely useful and versatile — hang it in a tent, drop it in a bag, use it as a soft area light. The Pro is the bigger version, with a 1,650mAh cell against the original's 630mAh, and adds Bluetooth app control that reviewers found neat and occasionally useful.

The irritations are accessory-shaped. Charging uses Olight's MCC cable, which isn't included by default, so you need to order one separately — an easy thing to be caught out by. The Osling carrying accessory doesn't fit the Pro. And while the app sets up easily, it asks for a unique login and permissions including microphone access, which some reviewers were uncomfortable with. One found they couldn't revert a custom image back to stock once set.

Does it come with a charging cable?: Not by default — it uses Olight's MCC cable and you have to order one separately. Check before you buy or the thing arrives uncharged and unchargeable.
Is the Bluetooth actually useful?: Occasionally. It lets you change colour and brightness without reaching the orb, which matters if it's hanging in a tent. Most owners use the button most of the time.
Should I worry about the app permissions?: It asks for a login and permissions including the microphone, which is more than a light bulb needs. The Obulb works fully without ever installing the app.
Obulb or Obulb Pro?: The Pro for the much larger battery and Bluetooth; the standard one if you want something smaller and cheaper. The Pro's accessories aren't cross-compatible.
