Reviewers call the build quality fantastic and note charging pulls over 2.3A from USB-A, which is quick for the format. It's the smaller, lighter alternative to the 21700 HD20, and for most people the better buy.

The criticism is mode spacing. There are too few levels: the lowest runs about a hundred times longer than high but sits only three steps away, so in practice high is often too bright and medium isn't bright enough, with nothing in between. Separately, one reviewer flags that Wurkkos measures runtime in a way that overstates it by two to three times — treat the published figures as marketing rather than data.

HD15 or HD20?: The HD15 for most people — it's smaller, lighter and cheaper on an 18650. The HD20 is the 21700 version with much longer runtime and considerably more bulk.
Are the runtime claims trustworthy?: No. A reviewer found Wurkkos measures in a way that overstates runtime by two to three times. Halve the published figure and you'll be closer.
What's the 18350 tube for?: It shortens the light considerably at the cost of runtime, which makes a noticeably lighter headlamp for shorter tasks. Getting it included at this price is unusual.
What's the HD15R?: The variant with a built-in rechargeable cell rather than a removable 18650. Convenient, but you lose the ability to swap in a fresh cell or replace a worn one.
