Hank's right-angle work light, and the owners who rate it highest are the ones using it hardest: reports from caving, mine exploration and search and rescue describe it as absolutely flawless, small and light enough to wear on a helmet for hours. One owner scored it 10/10 and said it was reliable enough they'd never need to replace it. The boost driver gives good efficiency and runtime, and as with every Emisar you pick the optics and emitters you want.

Build is CNC-machined aircraft aluminium with trapezoid-cut, factory-lubricated threads. Two limitations to plan around: there's no USB-C charging or reverse charging, so the cell comes out to be charged, and it's fussy about cells — unprotected flat-top 21700s only. Protected or button-top cells simply won't fit.

What cells does it take?: Unprotected flat-top 21700s only. Protected cells are too long and button-tops won't seat. Buy cells at the same time as the light to avoid a frustrating first evening.
Is it good for helmet use?: It's the use owners rate it highest for. Cavers and search-and-rescue users report wearing it for hours, which is the real test of a right-angle light's weight and balance.
How does it charge?: It doesn't — there's no port. You remove the cell and charge it externally, which is the standard Emisar trade for a smaller, simpler, better-sealed light.
DW4 or D4V2?: The DW4 is the right-angle body for headlamp and work use; the D4V2 is the straight torch. Same firmware and emitter menu — choose on how you'll hold it.
