Hank's mini pocket thrower, and owners like it for a specific reason: it reaches out and spots things at distance from a body that carries better than the D4 — several prefer its balance in the hand and pocket. The hotspot is unusually even all the way across rather than hot-centred, the interface is Anduril, and the price is reasonable for a made-to-order light.

The honest limits are the format's. A thrower's tight hotspot lacks versatility — one reviewer hated walking with it, because a bright distant disc is no way to light a path; the D4V2 suits that far better. The head is big enough that it doesn't ride easily in a pocket. And two cosmetic-to-minor notes: on some anodising colours the head and tail don't quite match the body, and Anduril's learning curve applies as ever.

D1 or D4V2?: Opposite beams from the same family. The D1 reaches; the D4V2 floods. Owners who tried walking with the D1 recommend the D4V2 for that — buy the D1 specifically to look at distant things.
How is the hotspot?: Even across its width, which is rare — most throwers are hot-centred. It makes what you're spotting easier to actually see.
Does the colour mismatch matter?: It's purely cosmetic — on some finishes the head and tail anodising runs lighter than the body. If it would bother you, black is the safe choice.
