What's a 'floody thrower'?: A beam with real reach but enough spill to stay usable close in. The TIR optic gives it 480 m of throw while still lighting your surroundings, which is why it suits general outdoor use.
Is the tactical ring a problem?: It's the most common ergonomic complaint — if you hold the light with your thumb on the side switch, the ring sits awkwardly against your fingers. It can be removed on most lights of this type.
