Reviewers rate it highly for close work — the low-level beam pattern is excellent, output below level five is properly regulated, and lower modes run six to eight hours without visibly dimming. As a reading headlamp it's described as superb, laying smooth even light across a page.

Where it falls down is at the top end and outdoors. None of the modes meet their published runtime specs, and the highest levels don't hit their output claims either. The magnet is weak. What is it best at?: Close work. Reading, working under a sink, anything within arm's reach — the low-level beam is even and the regulated output holds for hours. That's the use reviewers recommend it for without reservation.
Why not outdoors?: The high modes don't reach their claims and don't last, and the beam isn't built for distance. For a trail headlamp the HD15 or a dedicated outdoor light is a better choice.
How weak is the magnet?: Weak enough that reviewers mention it as a fault. It'll hold on a horizontal steel surface but don't rely on it sideways or overhead.
Is it the same as a TS10?: Very similar internals and cell, in a 90-degree body. If you want the same light as a straight torch, the TS10 is the one.
